The 2nd Online Chinese Teaching Forum & Workshop

The Confucius Institute at Michigan State University is pleased to announce that the second Online Chinese Teaching Forum & Workshop will be held at Michigan State University on November 11th-12th, 2016. With the success of the first OCTFW organized by the Confucius Institute at Michigan State University (CI-MSU) in 2015, the second OCTFW aims at continually promoting collaboration among educators in K-16 online Chinese teaching and learning field. This year, an Advisory Board was formed to organize this event.

The theme of the forum is Identifying Best Practices in Online Chinese Teaching. Participants can submit a proposal for an Onsite Presentation or a Remote Presentation. Dr. Ke Zhang at Wayne State University will provide a keynote speech.

Identifying Best Practices in Online Chinese Teaching

Time and Place

Time: 8:30am to 4pm EST, November 11th (Friday) & 12th (Saturday), 2016

Meeting Location: Henry Center, Michigan State University

Registration Fee & Deadline

Forum on November 11th: $80 for onsite participants, $50 for remote participants

Workshop on November 12th: $80 for onsite participants, $50 for remote participants

Forum and Workshop: $150 for onsite participants, $100 for remoteparticipants

Deadline for registration: October 31st, 2016

We will provide materials, breakfast, lunch, and snacks between sessions.

Participants are responsible for all other expenses. Registration fee will NOT be refunded.


Hotel: We recommend the Candlewood Suites Hotel-Lansing which is right next to the Henry Center where the OCTFW will be held. We blocked 30 rooms each day for Thursday (Nov 10th), Friday (Nov 11th), and Saturday (Nov 12th) at the rate of $95 per night plus tax. It is on a first come first serve base. Please make your own reservation and mention Confucius Institute at MSU for the discounted rate. Airport: the closest airport is Lansing Capital Region International Airport (LAN). It is about 12 miles (one way) from the airport to Henry Center and Candlewood Hotel. Alternatively, you can fly to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and take Michigan Flyter bus (about 2 hours one way) to East Lansing.
