The 5th Online Chinese Teaching Forum & Workshop

The Confucius Institute at Michigan State University (CI-MSU) is pleased to announce that the 5th Online Chinese Teaching Forum & Workshop (OCTFW) will be held at Michigan State University on November 8th-9th, 2019. Building on the success of previous years, this year's OCTFW aims at promoting collaboration among educators in the K-16 online Chinese teaching and learning field.

The theme of the forum is Learning Chinese in the Digital Age. Participants are invited to submit a proposal for an onsite presentation or a remote presentation. Dr. Cornelius Kubler of Williams College and Dr. Cynthia Ning of University of Hawaii at Manoa will provide keynote speeches.

Forum: 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm EST, November 8th (Friday), 2019

(Please check-in at 1 pm)

Workshop: 9am to 4pm EST, November 9th (Saturday), 2019

(Please check-in at 8:30 am and enjoy light breakfast)

Registration & Deadline

This event is FREE. Materials, breakfast, lunch (only on 11/9), and snacks between sessions will be provided.

Proposal Submission Deadline: September 30th, 2019

Registration Deadline: November 1st, 2019

Participants are responsible for all other expenses.

Hotel: We recommend the Candlewood Suites Hotel-Lansing which is right next to the Henry Center where the OCTFW will be held. We blocked 5 rooms on Thursday (11/7), 10 rooms on Friday (11/8), and 5 rooms on Saturday (11/9) at the rate of $95 per night plus tax. It is on a first come first serve base and any unbooked rooms will be relased on 10/14/19. Please make your own reservation and mention Group Code:CTF for the discounted rate. Airport: The closest airport is Lansing Capital Region International Airport (LAN). It is about 12 miles (one way) from MSU. Alternatively, you can fly to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and take the Michigan Flyer bus (about 2 hours one way) to East Lansing.
