Chinese Teacher Placement Program and Requirements
The CI-MSU employs Chinese language teachers and places them in various school districts across the nation. To qualify as a CI-MSU teacher, candidates must demonstrate experience, competency and the skills necessary to teach in American schools. This includes a lead teaching/internship experience, passing of a comprehensive exam and submission of a complete unit of study with appropriate lesson plans. All requirements focus on the following areas:
- American educational systems
- Diversity in U.S. education
- Curriculum and lesson planning
- Classroom management
- Lesson delivery
One way to demonstrate competency is through the training program CI-MSU hosts through Beijing Channel Consulting (BCC). Should you wish to apply without the training program, please contact CI-MSU (firstname.lastname@example.org) to arrange and interview and submission of required materials that demonstrate competency and employment readiness.
CIMSU's partner, Beijing Channel Consulting, employment preparation option
To be a CI-MSU hired Chinese teacher, you must meet State Teacher Certification requirements. This includes enrolling in MSU's Chinese Teacher Certification Program, which is a six-semester post-professional program for candidates who are already proficient in Mandarin and provides academic training for a provisional license to instruct Chinese in K-12 classrooms. For an additional six (6) credits, teachers may earn a M.A. in Teaching and Curriculum.
The Chinese Teacher Placement Program is a paid internship teaching placement that meets the TE 894 internship teaching requirement of the Chinese Teacher Certification Program. If you are interested in the Chinese Teacher Placement Program, please contact Beijing Channel Consulting for your initial employment application. In order to be fully considered as a CI employed teacher, you must also meet all the application requirements for being a student in MSU's Chinese Teacher Certification Program. Participation in the TSC program is one way to demonstrate having the necessary skills to teach in U.S. schools in a paid internship position.
