Application Process
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Consideration for admission on a regular basis requires at least a 3.0 grade-point average in the final two years of undergraduate study. Applicants with a grade-point average below 3.0 for the same time period may be considered for admission on a provisional basis.
Evidence of appropriate work or other related experience is highly desired. In addition, all applicants to the HALE MA program must submit the following documents:
- A written statement of professional goals. It should describe: how the applicant's professional and educational experiences have influenced the desire to pursue a master's degree, the broader, long-term career interests of the applicant and how the HALE program relates to those interests, and the applicant's goals and objectives for master's study. This statement is used to determine if the applicant's goals are consistent with those of the program and to assess the clarity and coherence of the applicant's writing.
- Three letters of recommendation on letterhead. The letters are required to assess the academic and/or professional abilities of the applicant. The applicant should choose persons who are familiar with his or her academic and/or professional abilities and those individuals writing reference letters should be encouraged to be as specific as possible in their comments.
- A HALE Personal Record Form (available in downloadable form or through the HALE office at the address listed below).
