David O. Hough

The David O. Hough Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998.

Dr. Hough was hired as a primary care physician in MSU’s Department of Family Practice in 1979. He established the Department of Sports Medicine in 1981, and served as Director of Sports Medicine until his death in 1996. During his tenure at MSU, he also served as Clinical Family Practice Director, MSU team physician, and professor for many courses in the College of Human Medicine. According to his wife Jill, Dave absolutely loved working with the athletic trainers and medical staff, especially watching young physicians grow into confident doctors and student athletic trainers develop expertise in the care and prevention of injuries.
