Internship Areas
During your fifth year in the Secondary Teacher Preparation Program at Michigan State University you intern and practice teach in a school. While internships are determined and arranged by the Secondary Teacher Preparation Program, you are able to indicate a preference as to the geographical location in which you would like to intern. The Secondary Teacher Preparation Program offers a diverse array of internship possibilities.Internship possibilities include opportunities to work in either urban, sub-urban, or rural schools. Such opportunities will enrich your teaching and will be an essential part of your early professional experience. We have a variety of dynamic secondary schools which are affiliated with our Internship Program. In addition, you will have the advantage of working and learning side by side with an experienced classroom teacher and a field instructor, both of whom will help to guide you in your internship program.
Lansing Internships
The Lansing area internships include the local surrounding area school districts and extend as far as Grand Ledge, St. Johns, Howell, Stockbridge, Leslie, and Charlotte.Southeast Michigan Internships
The Southeast Michigan area internship include school districts surrounding and close to Detroit, and extend as far as Plymouth-Canton, Waterford, and Utica.
Grand Rapids Internships
The Grand Rapids area internships include the local surrounding area school districts, and extend as far as Northview, Kentwood and Lowell.
